Group Physiotherapy Classes
Group physiotherapy classes involve a combination of Pilates informed exercises and functional resistance exercises. Pilates informed exercises are individually prescribed and are designed to find and fix the root cause of an injury. Classes are taught by specifically trained physiotherapists and focus on building strength, improving flexibility and agility and helping to prevent injury. Adaptable to all levels of fitness and mobility, they are one of the secrets to reducing the risk of back pain or re injury in the future.
Pilates informed exercises take into consideration your ‘neural drive’ and ‘directional preference’. (Neural drive is how your brain and muscles communicate to enable efficient functional movement.) They work on improving coordination, balance, motor control (core strength) and efficiency of movement. The exercises involve a series of movements that engage multiple muscles throughout the body. This provides strengthening of the postural muscles and the muscles that support the spine.
All group physiotherapy classes are instructed by our experienced and highly trained physiotherapists, allowing for the supervision of correct technique to protect you from any provocative positions, and to tailor your progress.
An initial assessment (40 minutes) is required with a physiotherapist followed by several 1 on 1 sessions to establish your own personalised program, to ensure you are using the correct techniques safely on the equipment, and to prevent injury or aggravation. It will also allow your physiotherapist to assess your progress in helping you achieve your desired results.
1:1 Re-assessments are required every 3 months with your physiotherapist to discuss your goals and progress your program.

What to expect during your assessment?
Whether you are new to the clinic or group physiotherapy classes, your physiotherapist will do a thorough assessment taking into consideration any existing and previous injuries you may have, your body's preferred direction of movement, as well as your lifestyle, work, recreational activities and general health. They will explain their findings in an easy to understand manner and explain their recommended course of treatment. Your physiotherapist may also prescribe exercises you can do at home in between sessions.
You will need to wear comfortable clothes that allow your body to move, and we ask for safety and hygiene reasons that you wear grip socks when using our equipment, which can be purchased at our clinic prior to your appointment.
