Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral to see a Physiotherapist?
You do not need a doctor’s referral to see a physiotherapist unless your injury is in relation to a work injury, motor vehicle accident or Department of Veterans’ Affairs claim.
If it is in relation to a work injury or car accident and you would like to see a physiotherapist ASAP, you are more than welcome to book an appointment, pay upfront, and then claim back the session from your work or third-party insurance.
Do you accept Enhanced Primary Care Plans (EPC) or Chronic Disease Management Plans?
Yes! You need to be referred by your GP under that plan and we need to have received your referral (or you can bring a copy with you to your appointment) for you to be able to claim through Medicare.
We do charge a gap for Care Plans and more details regarding Care Plans can be found here.
Does Medicare cover Physiotherapy?
Only if you have been referred by your GP under an Enhanced Primary Care Plan (see above or follow this link).
Do you accept National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) clients?
We will gladly see NDIS clients if you are self-managed or plan managed. Unfortunately we are not able to provide services to Agency Funds Managed clients. Please let us know if you have an NDIS plan. For more information please follow this link.
Is there parking?
Yes, we have plenty of parking off Marion Road both in front and behind our buildings.
Do you accept all Health Funds?
Yes! We are preferred providers with BUPA and Health Partners but accept all private health funds. We have HICAPS facilities so all you pay is the gap on the day. You need to bring your health fund card with you to your appointment, or have a digital version on your phone. We are unable to process your claim with just a member number or photo.
What do I need to bring to my initial appointment?
So that we are best able to understand what brings you to our clinic, we ask that you arrive at least 10 minutes prior to your appointment so that you have time to complete some paperwork.
If you have x-rays or scans in relation to your injury we ask that you bring those with you, as well as any GP referral you may have, your health fund card, and if your injury is in relation to a motor vehicle accident or work injury, your claim details such as insurer, claim number, case managers name and number.
How long does my appointment go for?
Your initial appointment will go for up to 1 hour and your subsequent appointments are 20 minutes, unless your Physiotherapist is treating multiple areas and then they may request a longer 40 minute appointment.
Does it matter if I’m running late?
Our Physiotherapists do their best to run on time. We understand sometimes situations can be beyond your control, however if you call us at your earliest convenience we will endeavour to accommodate your appointment at a later time on the same day, provided the availability. Unfortunately if you are running late it will generally mean a decrease in the length of your appointment, otherwise this can have a knock on effect which ends up affecting the remaining clients for that day.
What if I need to cancel my appointment?
If you can’t make your appointment that's OK! We just ask that you call and cancel your appointment 6 hours before your appointment time. This allows us time to be able to call someone who may be on our waiting list. Otherwise, we may have to issue a ‘no show’ or late cancellation fee. Obviously if you wake up unwell in the morning and your appointment is in less that 6 hours we understand. Please just call the clinic and let us know as soon as you can.
Do you offer dry needling (acupuncture)?
Yes, the majority of our Physiotherapist are trained in Dry Needling and will offer it as part of your treatment if they think you would benefit from it. What is the difference between Dry Needling and Acupuncture? Find our here
What is the difference between physiotherapy and a massage?
Physiotherapy is the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of any injury that restricts movement which leads to pain and as a result, an altered movement pattern of the body. A physiotherapist will complete a comprehensive history and physical examination to establish a diagnosis and design a collaborative management plan to cater to the client’s goals and needs. This may include reducing pain, increasing muscle strength and stability, as well as restoring functional movement to the body.
Physiotherapy consists of hands on manual therapy techniques in addition to Dry Needling, functional stretching and strengthening exercises and taping. Your Physiotherapist will also prescribe exercises and self-management strategies to help maintain long term results.
