HydrotherapyUsing water to reduce the impact on your joints and help with gentle resistance, hydrotherapy is a tailor-designed program developed by your physiotherapist to aid in the recovery of specific injuries.
Benefits of hydrotherapy include: Resistance of water to help build up strength Buoyancy reduces pressure on joints Warm water reduces muscle pain, spasm and joint stiffness Reduced fear of falling Greater improvements in function compared to land based exercise Significant changes in balance and co-ordination A pre-hydrotherapy consultation is required so your physiotherapist can tailor make your individual program and discuss any injuries or questions you may have. Hydrotherapy can comprise of both group and individual work with supervision from your experienced physiotherapist. Re-assessments at regular intervals will ensure you are continually gaining improvement in strength and fitness from your tailor made program. Current group sessions are held: 1pm Thursdays at Pro Swim South Plympton with Physiotherapist Thomas Alder. A 1 on 1 session is require before joining the group.
